TINORA FFA

The Tinora FFA has once again demonstrated its commitment to community safety and service by donating vital equipment to the Jewell & Ridgeville Fire Departments. This new Red Rescue Auger is a crucial tool designed to aid in the swift removal of grain engulfing a victim, significantly enhancing rescue operations in agricultural emergencies. The auger, capable of being powered by any drill with a 1/2" chuck, marks the completion of a comprehensive three-part grain rescue equipment set previously donated by the FFA.

Over the years, the Tinora FFA has provided essential components, including grain walking shoes and a physical tube for victim encapsulation. This auger represents the final element, effectively scooping grain away and freeing trapped individuals. This initiative underscores the FFA's dedication to community service and raising awareness about its meaningful contributions.

Funding for this project was raised through the FFA's annual strawberry sale, which saw a total profit of $2,535 this year. These funds have supported the FFA's objective of enhancing grain rescue capabilities within the community.

Abby Bacon, FFA Vice President, emphasized the significance of this project, stating, “It’s important to keep our farmers safe.” This sentiment echoes the FFA's ongoing commitment to the well-being of local agricultural workers.

The decision to donate to Jewell and Ridgeville Fire Departments was purposeful, as these departments serve the Tinora school district area. Firefighter Kyle Norden expressed gratitude, noting, “It means it will allow us to be safer in the instances that we would have to use this for grain rescue.”

With a membership of 66 individuals, the Tinora FFA continues to symbolize the power of community-driven initiatives. Their efforts not only enhance safety measures but also foster a spirit of collaboration and care within the Tinora Community. As we celebrate this remarkable contribution, let us recognize the impact of collective action and the positive change it brings to our lives.
