2018-2019 TJHS STUDENT HANDBOOK
Northeastern Local Schools has a very unique piece of science equipment that unfortunately is not widely known. We have our own planetarium and shows are available on request. We produce shows for children and adults from schools, churches, civil groups, scouts, etc. There is no charge for the shows.
One special show is The Christmas Star Show. Theories of what was seen some 2,000 years ago are explored. This program deals with the scientific theories of what was seen as the “Christmas Star”. Usually done in December and January, but this can vary.
Some of the other programs that are available:
Constellations – Observing the constellations in the Northern Hemisphere.
Planets – NASA slides are used to show current views of the eight planets and Pluto. Going beyond our solar system, we can look at galaxies, comets, and asteroids.
Observing the Moon – Both the Planetarium and NASA slides will be used to show views of the moon from the earth, space, and the lunar surface. Also discussed will be phases of the moon.
There is no charge for planetarium shows to outside groups. The best school nights are Monday’s, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Shows usually last about one hour.
Requests can be given to Veronica Neuwirth or you can contact Dick Neuwirth at 419-497-3880. Or e-mail at email@example.com.
To increase our building security, we now ask that all visitors stop in the JH office to sign in and get a visitors pass before going to any location in the Tinora High or Tinora Jr High School building.
